Glendronach 14 Year Old Virgin Oak Finish Review

Glendronach 14 Year Old Virgin Oak Finish A replacement to a dram that was well received in the past, this 14 year old Glendronach has been finished in small batches in Virgin Oak casks.

spicy and quite hot but a very interesting dram that clearly shows its virgin oak influence, it's got bitter elements and lots of spice, maybe a bit too bitter/spicy for my liking as i like my whisky sweet, but a nice dram nonetheless.

One definitely to try, head over to Master of Malt for a bottle

Many thanks to Benriach for the official sample

Tasting Notes & Details

Nose

initially a real rye based bourbon spicyness, sweet in character also though, cinnamon and vanilla infused sugar hints of fruit juice filled gummy sweets and a touch of tangy fruit skins (orange and lime)

Palate

quite hot a bit of tongue nip that eases with water, bitter citrus peel and almost a salty feel, cask char and hints of nutmeg spice

Finish

the bite lasts and sweetness flows along with it.
