Kilkerran / Kilkerran

Kilkerran 12 Year Old Review

Kilkerran 12This is the first release of the Kilkerran dram, from Glen Gyle distillery in Campbeltown and operated by the staff from Springbank.

I've had Kilkerran before (see here) but not enough of it and i certainly haven't written enough about it.

This is a great dram, really nice balance of smoke and sweetness and for around £35 a bottle this is an absolute bargain.

Check out your local specialist or places like Master of Malt for this dram.

Tasting Notes & Details

Nose

Initially quite powdery/chalky a bit like Edinburgh rock rolled in baby powder, sweet juices from tinned fruit and those little cherries from tinned fruit salad, there's an underlying gentle puff of wood smoke, lightly charred maple wood, a really inviting nose.

Palate

Sweet, juicy, lemon drizzle and tinned fruit juices, gentle puffs of maple wood smoke, puff candy and vanilla sponge cake

Finish

Juicy sweet, puffs of smoke and gentle spices
