Rare Cask Reserves Ghosted Reserve 21 Year Old Review

Rare Cask Reserves Ghosted Reserve 21 Year Old This Rare Cask Reserves Ghosted Reserve 21 Year Old was tasted as part of a tweet tasting in conjunction with William Grants and The Whisky Wire (@thewhiskywire).

The Rare Cask Reserves Ghosted Reserve are a series of drams which featured distilleries that are no long with us, thus the Ghosted Reserve element. This particular blended scotch includes Inverleven, Ladyburn and Dumbarton, all long since gone.

I really enjoyed this, it's light and makes you work to get anything from the nose, but thats the type of dram i like, not something that punches you in the face every time you go to sniff it.

Lots of caramel and fruit, with a soft edge of wood, this is a fabulous dram, thats deserves to be savoured and worked at.

I believe this is only available in Travel Retail.

Thanks again to William Grants and The Whisky Wire (@thewhiskywire) for including me on the tasting.

Caramelised sugar syrup, light fruits, hints of something rich with some toasted cedar wood it's got a sweet rich sherry cask like quality but it's hiding and you really need to work at it to get anything from it.

Sweet juicy, but peppery and spicy, hints of soft Galia melon caramel and wine gums, light fresh spiced papaya chunks, tinned fruit salad in syrup and a lick of cedar wood

Finish

Woody, spicy and soft melon
