Jura Tastival 2016 Review

Jura Tastival 2016 For the third year running Jura have released a Tastival bottling to celebrate the Jura Tastival which coincides with the Feis Ile on neighbouring Islay.

"Triple sherry finished" which I don't really know what that entails but bottled at 51% which I'm really happy to see and featuring a crowd sourced label which has only just been revealed.

This is interesting, lots of sweet sherry notes along with tangy fruit skins and a touch of rubber which works for me. There's a tang of spice also and for me this is a lovely example of a Jura.

Thanks to Jura for the official sample.

Tasting Notes & Details

Nose

Sweet sherry notes which translate as sweet sugar coated figs, plum skins and gently cooked plum centres, raisins and Demerara sugar, slight rubbery notes, which work with the rest of the flavours, some gentle cashew nuts and tangy fruit peel.

Palate

Really tangy up front, with waxy citrus fruit peel, edges of plum skin, more gentle rubber, pencil eraser it's tasty and works together, then a tangy of cashew nuts crushed with some cinnamon powder.

Finish

Sweet, tangy and spicy
