Caol Ila / Douglas Laing

Caol Ila 19yr Old Particular (Douglas Laing ) Review

Caol Ila 19yr Old Particular (Douglas Laing ) A 19 year old single cask Caol Ila from Douglas Laings Old Particular range, err yes please.

Bottled at 51.5% this is a dram I was really looking forward to,when it arrived, and perfect time to be trying it during Feis Ile.

This is everything you could want from a pleated dram, sweet, juicy, smoky, bbq and more, a fabulous dram that really really works.

Sold out at Master of Malt but you can get a sample from them.

Thanks to Douglas Laing for the official sample as part of my fellows pack.

Tasting Notes & Details

Nose

This is definitely a seaside dram, it's initially like being right at the beach, with seaweed, crispy seashells and salty chips, then a light bbq smoke comes through mixing with ozone and citrus fruits, with lemon peel being the prominent note, tangy spices come next.

Palate

Sweet initially then it's like licking bbq charcoaled meats, hints of wood smoke in there, bacon rolls, bready and meaty, sweet juicy fruits hide in here also, tangy spices hiding in the background also

Finish

Sweet, juicy, woody, spicy, yummy
