SMWS 127.44 Cantina Mexicana Review

The Scotch Malt Whisky Society The Scotch Malt Whisky Society yet again have a special edition for Feis Ile with this 127.44 Cantina Mexicana from an Islay distillery.

This was released to buy on Islay last Friday and will be part of the next big out turn also.

Dangerously drinkable at 65.9% as although there's heat from the alcohol it's still sweet and like traditional cola, chalky, juicy fruity and wonderful.

Another winner from the Scotch Malt Whisky Society, watch out for this when its released in the out turn next week.

Thanks to the The Scotch Malt Whisky Society for the official sample.

Tasting Notes & Details

Nose

There's a massive sweetness in here first, then a touch of smoke comes in too but it's fruity, then the smoke comes with a bite of spicy smoke, it's very charcoal briquette, sherbet comes in with some pepper which almost made me sneeze.

Palate

Sweet and juicy with a hint of chalkiness and smoke, like a charcoal topped Edinburgh rock sweetness, flat traditional cola, like the fentimans stuff, then a massive chilli spice hit comes in. This could easily be a sweet vegetable chilli dish it's sweet, and hot and chilli and yum

Finish

Chilli heat with underlying sweetness
