Highland Park / Gordon & MacPhail

Highland Park 16yr Gordon and MacPhail (The Whisky Exchange Exclusive) Review

Highland Park 16yr Gordon and MacPhail (The Whisky Exchange Exclusive) Another The Whisky Exchange Exclusive this time a Highland Park 16 year old bottled on their behalf by Gordon and MacPhail.

This looks like an ex-bourbon cask from the colour, this comes from cask number 4260 and was distilled in 1999. I'm really hoping this has those lovely sweet fruity floral notes that I get from ex bourbon highland park.

When initially poured into the glass it's quite light but it soon opens up into, those tangy fruity sweet vanilla notes that really works well and tastes fabulous.

A touch of water opens this up nicely and adds more of those sweet, fruity, candied floral notes.

You can only get this from The Whisky Exchange.

Thanks to The Whisky Exchange for the official sample.

Tasting Notes & Details

Nose

Sweet chalky and floral with a tangy nippy spicy edge, there's a hint of gentle heathery smoke in here along with sweet fruity floral gums and freshly scraped vanilla pods, as it sits in the grass more citrus notes begin to form also.

Palate

There's a real strong attack of woody oak notes and strong peppery smoke, fresh vanilla pods, sweet citrus notes, icing sugar and sugar coated flower petals.

Finish

Sweet, waxy, tangy, with peppery smoke and oaky sweet juiciness.
