Longrow 10 Year Old Shiraz (One Off) Review

Longrow 10 ShirazHuge thanks to David (@TIA568B) from Glenuntitled.com for this sample from a one off cask sample bottle from the wonderful shop at Cadenheads in Campbeltown.

A one-off bottle taken as a duty paid cask sample, more details about the one-off cask samples here on Davids Blog.

I was very aprehensive over this as wine, and red wine in particular, does not agree with me, i find it tannic and metallic and not pleasant at all so i wasn't looking forward to this whisky very much at all, but i'm so glad that David sent this sample as i really enjoyed it and has made me a lot less scared of wine casked whisky.

Tasting Notes & Details

Nose

smoky bbq wood notes, lots of sweet fruit mainly banana and pineapple some dewy grass notes too, not tannic so really glad of that

Palate

sweet dessert wine, fruit pudding like mandarin cheesecake, some smoky notes still lingering, very drinkable

Finish

tingles from the lips, sweet and slightly smoky
