Glenturret 9yr 2006 Ewan McGregor Oloroso Cask Review

Glenturret 9yr 2006 Ewan McGregor Oloroso Cask A single cask release from Scotland's oldest distillery. Distilled in 2006, cask 545 is a distillery exclusive and has been named Ewan McGregor due to the famous Scottish actor being born in Crieff, the same town in which the distillery is located.

This bottle your own was filled by my friend Barry (@thewhiskyphiles) from The WhiskyPhiles blog, thanks for sorting this for me.

I was very curious about this being a bit of a fan of Glenturret as it was my first ever distillery I ever visited but I still have a bit of an issue with sherry casks but I'm willing to give it a go.

Oh this is a sherried dram I could spend quite a bit of time with, lots of juicy sweet orange notes, cashew nuts, which I love, and beeswax.

Delicious stuff and it shows me I really need to go visit the distillery again and soon.

Tasting Notes & Details

Nose

Well at first dip this is a sherry cask whisky I could get along with, it's all sweet cashew nuts and leather, beeswax and mahogany that's been freshly polished, some sweet candy orange and flour coated orange travel sweets, maybe even some of the lemon ones too

Palate

Oh yummy sweet orange candies then it grows arms and legs getting spicier and peppery mixing with cashew nuts and more beeswax, oily and sweet

Finish

Peppery and mouthwatering
