Edradour 2003 (3rd Release) Bourbon Cask Ibisco Decanter Review

Edradour 2003 (3rd Release) Bourbon Cask Ibisco Decanter Thanks to Johnnie Stumbler (@johnniestumbler) from the Nosing Arse blog for this sample of Edradour, a distillery I have fond memories of visiting in the early 2000's as one of the first distilleries I ever visited.

I was excited to try this as I'm a big fan of ex-bourbon cask whiskies and this looks right up my street.

Tasty stuff this lots of those flavours that I really like in ex bourbon whiskies this is delicious stuff and I really need to look out for newer bottlings of this dram.

Thanks again to Johnnie (@johnniestumbler) for the sample.

Tasting Notes & Details

Nose

Those delicious sweet notes from ex bourbon casks, light freshly scraped vanilla, then touches of stronger vanilla essence, hint of those slightly bittersweet tropical fruits, kiwi and passion fruit and dragonfruit, soft sweet oak leaf sauce and gentle cask char, this is very enticing.

Palate

Wow this is peppery and spicy initially, sweet vanilla and juicy tangy fruits, passion fruit and pineapple, lots of lovely freshly scraped vanilla, slightly Bready/doughy and like a good danish and lovely oaky notes

Finish

Sweet oaky and tangy with vanilla
