Benriach Cask Strength Batch 1 Review

Benriach Cask Strength Batch 1 Just very recently announced this Benriach Cask Strength Batch 1 bottling has me quite excited as Benriach really are doing some cracking drams and their sister Glendronach Cask Strength batches are all really tasty.

This is powerful but tasty stuff, lots of fruits on the nose and palate and a drop or three of water brings them out to the forefront.

Cask char on the nose and lightly toasted bread on the palate add to a really well balanced dram that is seriously moreish and tasty.

Thanks to Benriach for the official sample

Tasting Notes & Details

Nose

This is really quite buttery and honeyed in nature when first poured into the glass, there's a touch of that lovely cask char vanilla too along with a big dose of heat coming from the higher strength ABV. Left in the glass for a bit some fresh fruits come through with galleo melon balls and and hints of light syrup

Palate

Like a spiced honey and syrup, it's buttery and oily, waxy and viscous, vanilla sugar and more of the melon, cask char and tangy citrus peel on lightly toasted brown bread

Finish

Spiced honey citrus fruit which stays for a while
