Elements of Islay Peat Review

Elements of Islay Peat I've not had a huge amount of the Elements of Islay range but those I have had I've certainly enjoyed.

This Elements of Islay Peat (which was released recently) is a blended malt featuring a number of Islay malts and based on how good the single malts are in excited to try this.

The nose instantly reminded me of the Big Peat Christmas Editions with its creamy sweet peat but the toffee notes add another dimension to this dram.

The combination of sweet toffee on the nose and char on the palate is exciting and interesting and adds up to a really nice drinkable dram.

Pick up a bottle of this from The Whisky Exchange for under £35 which is a bargain.

Thanks to the guys at Speciality Drinks for the official sample.

Tasting Notes & Details

Nose

Oh wow that's fabulous on the nose it's sweet creamy toffees and fruity treacle scones, the smoke is there but it's like smoked meats and cheeses without being too much like sitting in the room with a fire

Palate

Creamy smoke with a firey smoky char that comes first then lemongrass, sweet barley sugars and vanilla sugar, bbq chicken and steak pieces

Finish

Tangy spicy and fruity with a lot of toffee on the nose and spicy char on the palate lovely stuff.
