Jura 1998 Elements Fire Review

Jura 1998 Elements Fire I picked up this bottle of Jura 1998 Elements Fire whilst at the distillery in 2014 and opened it recently for a few drams.

Matured in charred ex bourbon American oak casks this 1998 distilled (approx 10 year old) represents the element of fire.

Initially quite intense but it becomes tamer as you sip through it the char works well without being too smoky and the seaside and fruity light notes work well.

A dram definitely worth seeking out if you can find it, which due to the amount of time this has been available is likely to be a rarity specialist or whisky auction.

Tasting Notes & Details

Nose

There's a smoky seaweed like note that comes through first before going really quite sweet and vanilla sugar like, some light gentle tinned fruit notes with those little cherries quite strong in there.

Palate

Quite a tangy citrus note first here for me then it goes more vanilla sugar, gentle freshly charcoal smoked seaweed and chip shop chips, lovely stuff.

Finish

The spicy char grows on the tongue with this.
