SMWS 5.48 Stave New World Review

The Scotch Malt Whisky Society Thanks to Andy (@andysinc41) for this sample of The Scotch Malt Whisky Society 5.48 Stave New World from one of my favourite distilleries.

I'm a huge fan of ex bourbon drams from this distillery so an ex sherry dram is really interesting and the dark fruits and spice add an extra edge without hiding the citrus and floral notes that I love from this distillery.

This is one to look out for and I'll check out more ex sherry 5s in the future.

If you Like single cask whisky you really should be a member of The Scotch Malt Whisky Society.

Thanks again to Andy (@andysinc41) for the sample.

Tasting Notes & Details

Nose

Oh now this is interesting it's deep dark dried fruits plums and figs, clove infused raisins and then a splash of Demerara sugar crusted oak and then a hint of citrus fruit peel and floral notes in the background

Palate

Oh wow that's spicy and woody, there's a real tang that I would expect from licking cinnamon off a mahogany wardrobe, before more deep fruits of prunes and fig rolls, delicious stuff

Finish

Spicy tangy citrusy lovely
