Big Peat Christmas Edition 2012 (Douglas Laing) Review

ig Peat at Christmas I was lucky enough to sample this Christmas Cask Strength edition of Big Peat at this years Whisky fringe and really enjoyed it.

It has some tannic notes that i'm not brilliantly keen on but the smoke is lovely and the strength adds to the flavours and works really well.

A better dram than the standard Big Peat in my opinion.

Not the easiest to find a bottle of this although you can get one at The Whisky Exchange

Tasting Notes & Details

Nose

smoky and winey almost metallic red wine, almost overpowers the smoke for me, some blackcurrent cordial there too

Palate

fresh and smoky, not so much wine notes, definite blackcurrent cordial and crushed grape juice

Finish

smoky and smooth
