Strathclyde 13yr Cask Strength Edition (Chivas Brothers) Review

Strathclyde 13yr Cask Strength Edition (Chivas Brothers) I tasted this Strathclyde 13yr Cask Strength Edition whilst at the Morning Masterclass at The Scotch Whisky Experience in March 2016.

Younger single grains can sometimes be quite light and tame but this dram had plenty to offer, the high ABV helps with some added punch and this is some seriously drinkable stuff, and my favourite of the session.

Out of stock at The Scotch Whisky Experience (although they only deliver within the UK) although it is in stock at The Whisky Exchange

Thanks to The Scotch Whisky Experience Who oranised for me to participate in this tour.

Tasting Notes & Details

Nose

I got more vanilla first before the huge waves of acetone (or paint stripper as the guy next to me described it) came through, pear drops add a touch of sweetness and invite you in before gentle oak woody notes and char mix together

Palate

this is thick and oily on the tongue, the pear drops are strong and sweet, making you want to drink more and more of this before oak leaf sauce and vanilla come across too

Finish

thick and oily, very longlasting vanilla and hints of char
