Speyburn 1991 Connoisseurs Choice (Gordon and MacPhail) Review

Speyburn 1991 Connoisseurs Choice (Gordon and MacPhail) Part of Gordon and MacPhails Wood Makes the Whisky campaign this Speyburn 1991 from the Connoisseurs Choice range.

I really haven't had a lot of Speyburn in the past, but what I have tried I've generally enjoyed a lot so I'm really excited to try this dram.

This is a very tasty dram, filled with pineapple and tropical notes on the nose and with more complexity with cereal notes and malty notes in the palate, this is lovely stuff.

Tasty and fresh, I really need to look at more Speyburn in the future.

Thanks to Gordon and MacPhail for the official sample.

Tasting Notes & Details

Nose

There's a fabulous amount of tropical fruit on the nose with pineapple coming through strongest, lots of lovely juicy fresh pineapple, along with that fibrous dried pineapple too, hints of oak woodiness, gentle sap and light syrup, a slight hint of icing sugar sweetness in the background too.

Palate

Sweet and tangy, there's a hint of hey/grass/cereal notes coming through then icing sugar coated dried pineapple chunks and pineapple cubes (remember them) and lots of malty breadiness.

Finish

Sweet and malty, ceral, and sweet, yum
