Invergordon 50yr 1964 XOP (Douglas Laing) Review

Invergordon 50yr 1964 XOP (Douglas Laing) This is the 24th and final Day of the whisky advent calendar with this Invergordon 50yr 1964 XOP (Douglas Laing)

A 50 year old dram, I can cope with that, and when it happens to be from the outstanding Douglas Laing it can only be great, let's give it a try and see

This is outstanding, one of the sweetest and tastiest whiskies I've ever tried, it's right up my street and shows exactly why these well aged Douglas Laing grain whiskies are so good,

If you can afford a bottle of this you will not be disappointed.

A 3cl sample is available from Master of Malt where unfortunatly the full size bottle has sold out although it is in stock and available to buy directly from Douglas Laing's online store.

Thanks to Drinks by the Dram for the calendar and thus sample.

Tasting Notes & Details

Nose

My first thoughts are

Palate

Sweet and toffee'd with waxy fruit skins, plum and nectarine, with light beeswax and gentle furniture polish notes, figs in caramelised sugar, oh my this is lovely

Finish

Sweet, beeswax and waxy fruit skins.
