Springbank 21yr Old Particular (Douglas Laing) Review

Springbank 21yr Old Particular (Douglas Laing) There are certain parts of being a whisky blogger which really are special and one of them is the fact that along with some friends I was lucky enough to spend another afternoon at Douglas Laing HQ with their fabulous ambassador Jan.

Barry (@thewhiskyphiles), Neil (@neilmackinnon1), Richard (@AdvInWhiskyland) and I were treated to a fabulous afternoon of whisky chat and company, including with the most gracious of hosts, Fred Laing.

I had originally planned to not take notes and simply enjoy the whisky of the day, but a few of the drams really did need to be written about so these will be blogged in the coming days, including this dram.

There's always the occasional dram that really jumps out and surprises you and this was one of them, a fabulous single cask bottling of 21 year old Springbank at Cask Strength. Much sweeter than i was initially expecting, especially for a Springbank, but it still has that oily, meatyness that we all expect and love.

This is one that if you love your springbanks, you should be looking to buy.

This dram can be purchased directly from Douglas Laings online shop.

Many thanks again to Jan, Fred, Chris, Jenny and Hannah at Douglas Laing for making our afternoon an unforgetable one.

Tasting Notes & Details

oh thats sweet and fruity, not what i was expecting, freshly scraped vanilla, meaty and powerful though, used engine oil, freshly opened tinned fruit salad, hints of tangy haribos and digestive biscuits, very yummy.

Sweet and oily, meaty again, like charcuterie, used engine oil with more of a fresh fruit salad and sweet light syup
