Tullamore D.E.W. 12 Year Old Special Reserve Review

Tullamore D.E.W. 12 Year Old Special Reserve Day 9 of the whisky advent calendar is this Tullamore D.E.W. 12 Year Old Special Reserve.

Irish Whiskey is something I've not spent a huge amount of time with and Tullamore D.E.W. Is a dram I'm very new to, so let's give it a try and see.

This is a blend and it shows as it's very very well balanced, and very very drinkable, it ticks all the boxes, sweet tangy and juicy, lovely stuff.

Thanks to Drinks by the Dram for the calendar and thus sample.

Tasting Notes & Details

Nose

Light grassy notes mix with undercooked doughy scones and melted creamy butter, the proper stuff that comes in a block not the easy spread out a tub, fresh vanilla, there's a summer fruits cordial note coming through with time and some honey and eucalyptus lockets adding some sweetness.

Palate

Tangy and sweet, not quite fizzy tangy, mire bitter blood orange and freshly cut wet grass, buttery again then creamy natural yoghurt, peach melba muller light and a drizzle of floral honey

Finish

Sweet and gentle but long lasting.
