Port Charlotte Valinch - Cask Exploration 05 Bogha-Drochaide Review

Port Charlotte Valinch - Cask Exploration 05 Bogha-Drochaide This bottle your own Port Charlotte from the distillery was matured for 10 years in an Oloroso Sherry cask and is named Bogha-Drochaide or Arch of the Bridge.

I'm a huge fan of Port Charlotte, that smoky sweet and amazing dram that puts hairs on your chest, this I am very much looking forward to.

The nose is fabulous, the palate challenges in a great way and the finish goes on forever, utterly fabulous stuff.

I believe this has now sold out at the distillery but you can pick up a bottle from The Green Welly which was hand bottled by them on a recent visit to the distillery.

Many thanks to Bruichladdich for the official sample.

Tasting Notes & Details

Nose

Sweet dried fruits come first before the smoke hits in big style, the smoke is sweet and filled with lemongrass, earthy honey roast peppers and parsnips, beetroot chutney, that smoke then goes a little chalky and sweet, lovely stuff

Palate

Lots and lots of tangy smoke, sweet sherried fruits mix with that tangy sweet chalky smoke, dried apricots and beetroot chutney and haribo tangtastics

Finish

The finish lasts forever, sweet fruits and smoke, amazing.
