Caol Ila Unpeated 15 Year Old (2014 Special Releases) Review

Caol Ila Unpeated 15 Year Old The 2014 Diageo Special Releases Caol Ila Unpeated has been aged for 15 years in first fill ex-bourbon casks.

This is fabulous, the nose is so,unlike Caol Ila that you expect but filled with flavour, then the palate has hints of that smoke but nothing too major, so it comes across as an additional flavour, not the biggest of the them.

So glad to have a bottle of this to drink through.

Sold out almost everywhere, although you can still buy a sample from Master of Malt

Tasting Notes & Details

Nose

Light and gentle, unexpectedly light, especially for Caol Ila, Tangy oak splinters, coated in haribo tangtastics, as it sits in the glass it gets much more oaky and spicy, hints of light sherbet dip, vanilla and over charred creme brûlée and a touch of wine gums.

Palate

Sweet wine gums, sherbet, tangy haribos, then cedar wood and lemongrass smoke, light hints though it's not the massive smoky notes you expect with Caol Ila, it's soft sherbet and haribo tangtastics.

Finish

Sweet tangy and sherbet.
