Glenfiddich / Glenfiddich

Glenfiddich The Original Review

Glenfiddich The Original Inspired by the original 1963 Glenfiddich Straight Malt the expression which brought single malt to the world this has been recreated by Brian Kinsman using the extensive archives available at the Glenfiddich distillery.

The nose here is right up my street, fruit sweets and malty goodness and the palate, is not as sweet as I would have expected but makes it one of those drams you nose constantly as you drink it.

The palate has that original feeling almost dunnage warehouse that make you think of the past and the nose shows hints of the present and future.

A damn nice dram and one I really enjoyed, if you get the chance try it or better still just go buy a bottle now.

Tasting Notes & Details

Nose

Oh wow tasty, malty biscuits, there was a wisp of smoke, but then it's gone again, it jumps in and out, then freshly cut grass and maynards wine gums, light leathery notes and touches of cigar leaf, foxes glacier fruits and a twist of mixed fruit peel and some traditional pear drops.

Palate

Really malty, digestive biscuits, malt loaf and all bran cereal, newly cut grass and a hint of spice. None of the big fruity flavours from the nose, but it's very tasty

Finish

Drying but mouthwatering and moreish and malty
