Essence of Cuba Honey (The Bitter Truth) Review

Bitter Truth Essence ofCuba I was recently offered the opportunity to participate in a Tweet Tasting with Havana Club Rum and being that I'm doing my best to try to increase my own drinks knowledge and the breadth of drinks reviews on this site i jumped at the chance.

The Tasting would be the Havana Club Añejo 7 Year Old and four bitters, or essences of cuba, to go with them, being Honey, Aromatic Leaf, Island Fruit and Coffee.

I've always been a bit sceptical of things like Bitters of Essences as to whether they actually offer anything different but they certainly do. these Essences are produced using Havana Club Añejo 7 Year Old as a base by The Bitter Truth.

For consistency all of the Essences were tested with a 50ml measure of Havana Club Añejo 7 Year Old and 4 drops of Essence.

The Honey essence was the first, it was sweet and tasty and i felt it added ore of a caramel note to the nose of the Rum, although it did also remind me a little of Jack Daniels Honey.

Thanks again to Havana Club for having me on the tasting.
