Glenfiddich Age of Discovery Madeira Cask Finish Review

Glenfiddich Age of Discovery Madeira Cask Finish This dram is finished in fine, aged Madeira wine casks from an independent island winery dating back to 1850.

I noticed recently that i’ve not reviewed a huge amount of Glenfiddich drams and this is part of a wee boost to try to resolve that.

For me the nose wins on this, from the nose i thought i was going to love it but i was let down by the spice on the palate not matching the nose, don’t get me wrong this is a cracker of a dram, just slightly disappointed that the palate wasn’t as sweet as the nose.

Tasting Notes & Details

Nose

oh yummy, lots of sweetness here, which suits me, fig rolls rolled in demerera sugar, candied oranges, waxy orange peel and some notes of a good dessert wine, sweet but with an underlying hint of bitterness.

Palate

sweet at first then it hits you with a spicy tang, it’s like candied oranges rolled in cinnamon and ground ginger, haribo tangtastics and oak leaf sauce

Finish

tangy, spicy but sweet
