Glenfiddich / Glenfiddich

Glenfiddich Age of Discovery Bourbon Cask Review

Glenfiddich Age of Discovery Bourbon Cask This dram is exclusively matured in American bourbon casks, for 19 years and although initially only for the Travel Retail market I believe is now available more widely from places like The Whisky Exchange.

I noticed recently that i’ve not reviewed a huge amount of Glenfiddich drams and this is part of a wee boost to try to resolve that.

I love this dram, it does everything i want from it, sweet, but complex, citrusy but not too tarte, a cracking dram that I would happily drink all night, every night.

Tasting Notes & Details

Nose

Initial thoughts are soft, sweet and right up my street, soft fresh Madagascan vanilla with sugar cubes and vanilla angel delight covered toffee pieces, hints of whisky marmalade and waxy orange and lemon peel but with that sweet candied fruit note.

Palate

sweet toffees and more of the light citrus fruits, lots of vanilla both freshly scraped and in the angel delight form, quite thick mouthfeel almost waxy/buttery.

Finish

Warming, especially for the ABV, but sweet and easy going
