Aultmore / The Whisky Barrel

Aultmore 25yr Burns Malt (The Whisky Barrel) Review

Aultmore 25yr Burns Malt (The Whisky Barrel) I'm a big fan of Aultmore and especially the higher strength versions which come through really well, Aultmore is a dram in demand with blenders due to the wonderful flavour profile of this distillery.

I'm really excited about this dram and have high hopes for it.

Damn this is nice, lots of sweetness and spices in here, toffee and treacle, blackcurrant and jam and jelly, fabulous stuff.

Thanks to The Whisky Barrel for the official sample, and although i believe this has already sold out you should be keeping an eye on the The Whisky Barrel site for other Burns Malts.

Tasting Notes & Details

Nose

Oh this is lovely, the sherry matured notes of lovely Demerara sugar coated plums with sweet jam and blackcurrant jelly, sugary sweet stewed apples and pears with treacle toffee and syrup.

Palate

Sugary sweet stewed dark fruits, treacle toffee and some blackcurrant jelly, hints of spice in here but nothing too nippy to the tongue.

Finish

Sweet sugary treacle and drying spices
