Knockando 12 Year Old 1997 Review

Glendronach 1994 18yo PX cask #3547 One of the things I was originally planning to do was catch up more with distilleries I've not reviewed in the past, thanks for Barry (@thewhiskyphiles) from The Whiskyphiles for the sample of this Knockando 12 Year Old distilled in 1997.

I don’t really know what i was expecting here, but it wasn’t this, quite malt influenced with lots of fruit, meatiness and wood influence this is a damn nice dram, one i should maybe have taken more notice of previously, i’ll certainly look out for it in the future.

Thanks to Barry (@thewhiskyphiles) for the sample.

Tasting Notes & Details

Nose

Quite malty with malt loaf, sweet cured meats and then a fruity plum and summer berry sauce lots of canned fruit salad, with little splashes of apple, pear, and cherries in light syrup.

Palate

Sweet and subtle, tinned fruit salad with gentle oak wood spices, it's very much tame compared to the nose but sweet fruits are lovely and drinkable

Finish

Sweet, woody, lovely.
