Green Spot Chateau Leoville Barton Review

Green Spot Chateau Leoville Barton I really enjoyed the original Green Spot but this wine matured version really did intrigue me so I was really excited when this sample arrived. However I'm not normally a fan of wine matured drams as I find them quite metallic/tannic which isn't a flavour I enjoy.

This works though, easy drinking like most Irish whiskeys but with tang and sweetness, it's different I wasn't expecting to like it but I do, none of the tannic metallic notes I don't like.

Lots of lovely complex flavours, but very drinkable, I like this.

Thanks to Irish Distillers for the official sample.

Tasting Notes & Details

Nose

Initially quite a big sweet sniff with homemade vanilla sugar, that mix of white sugar and freshly scraped vanilla, a hint of something more bitter, haribo tangtastics and lemon juice, then more underlying sweetness of raisins and sultanas almost Christmas cake like, hints of spices and Demerara sugar.

Palate

Sweet and spicy, Demerara sugar, split vanilla pods, Christmas cake spices, tangy and juicy, mouthwatering, hints of dried fruits, some apricot and dried banana in there also, tangtastics and an earthy note also

Finish

Sweet and spicy, mouthwatering and tangy
