Royal Brackla 16 Year Old Review

Royal Brackla 16 Year Old I was lucky enough to try the work in progress to this late last year and was suitably impressed, I can't help but admit to being disappointed at the 40% abv here and had believed the #LastGreatMalts new bottlings were all going to be coming at a higher strength of between 43%-46%.

It's lovely, sweet, and with a lovely bitterness, waxy on the nose, and it's there a little on the palate, I can't help but feel, that it would have more of that waxy oily mouthfeel at a higher abv.

An easy drinker, but complex enough to make you want to drink more.

Thanks to Royal Brackla for the official sample

Tasting Notes & Details

Nose

Light fresh and subtle are the words that come first from a sniff in here, honeydew melon, waxed lemons, pencil, shavings and light sawdust, touches of bitter red grapefruit

Palate

Tangy waxed lemons and red grapefruit, vanilla essence and a splash of spiced onions, sweet fleshy honeydew melon and nectarines and pears in light syrup come through also

Finish

Gets sweeter and fruitier, very nice indeed
