Glenlivet Founders Reserve Review

Glenlivet Founders Reserve I've been playing catch up with my whisky samples and drinking bottles for a while now and finally managed to catch up on this Glenlivet Founder's Reserve.

I'm certainly not afraid of non Age Statement whiskies from Glenlivet as the Nadurra series, both Travel Retail and Domestic, and the Travel Retail Excusive Master Distillers Reserve are all fantastically drinkable whiskies and good value for money.

This Founder's Reserve is also very drinkable, lots of fruit in here although the peppery spice on the finish makes it feel stronger than 40%. The popcorn I tend to get on youthful whiskies but this is still very drinkable and at around £35ish is pretty decent drinking whisky for the money

you can pick it up from my good spirits retailers including The Whisky Exchange.

Thnks to Glenlivet for the official sample.

Tasting Notes & Details

Nose

nitially there's quite a strong note of stewed dark fruits, with prunes and figs, hints of pears in light golden syrup and a background of tropical fruit juices, hints of acetone and sweet popcorn or that rice cake stuff that my wife likes

Palate

The mixed bag of fruits is in there again, with stewed dark fruits, tinned fruit salad and tropical fruits all making an appearance, there's a splash of peppery spice and a trickle of vanilla essence.

Finish

Quite peppery and spicy, almost quite rough for 40%
