Jura 1999 / Crinan Classic Boat Festival Review

Jura CrinanThis Jura whisky was bottled to Crinan Classic Boat Festival. This 1999 vintage whisky has been aged for over 8 years and is limited to just 400 bottles.

Heavily peated and full of flavours i was lucky enough to get the last of the bottle from the Lochside Hotel during my recent trip, i popped some into a wee sample to do on a fresh palate back home.

Chalky, smoky and fruity this is a cracker of a dram and if you see one at auction i really do recommend you give it a try.

Tasting Notes & Details

Nose

Theres quite a large hit of chalky earthy smoke, almost smoldering gyprock it almost has a damp feel to it, under that is a lighter sweeter note more reminiscent of standard jura, almost a touch lactic but sweet like stilton with cranberries and a hint of raspberry coulis

Palate

Chalky with more of the smoldering damp gyprock along with some sugared almonds and some more cranberry infused stilton

Finish

crushed sugared almonds and chalk.
