Strathearn Classic Gin Review

Strathearn Classic GinPart of my birthday present back in May from my wife was the Strathearn Gin triple pack, from which this Classic Gin was part of it.

I really wasn't too keen on this one, i'm not huge on aniseed flavours and this gin must have some fennell or somethign aniseed based in it so it just tasted very much like pernod etc to me which is not for me.

If you fancy trying it though why not grab a bottle or a sample from Master of Malt

Tasting Notes & Details

Nose

(straight) initially all i got from the glass was aniseed (which i'm really not a fan of at all, in fact i hate it) but then it does go a little lighter with more citrus notes coming through particularly fresh lime and crushed lemongrass

(with tonic) it's the dreaded aniseed, it's back and with a vengeance, i really don't like that note and i can't get passed it.

Palate

(straight) oh hell it's just pure aniseed, way way too much aniseed for me, it's like straigh sambuca, really not for me and masks everything else there.

(with tonic) aniseed again but this time with some citrus notes of lemon and lime creeping in ever so slightly

Finish

(straight) sorry, yuk aniseed

(with tonic) aniseed and more aniseed with a hint of lemon
