SMWS 59.48 - A sensory journey Review

SMWS Clans and Drams This 59.48 - A sensory journey was tasted at the beginning of the month when I went along to the Scotch Malt Whisky Society's clans and drams opening feast at the vaults in Edinburgh with my good friend Niall (@niallbenzie).

I'm certainly in the Old and Dignified clan like this dram especially as i'm almost 10 years older than it, but this really does need that extra time, the hints of mint when water added shows clearly how lovely and old this is.

Remember you can find out your clan and declare your #clansanddrams allegiance by taking the survey on the SMWS Clans and Drams website or if you know you're clan you can get a bottle recommendation by spinning the flavour wheel.

Tasting Notes & Details

Initially quite dusty and woody before some underlying fruits begin to appear. for me it's like porridge with banana and honey and with a touch of water a sprig of mint appears too

quite meaty and woody, with oak rubbed ham and roast beef with a hint of mint sauce

Spicy on the finish, grated ginger and cinnamon
