Furthering my month of Blended whisky i had persuaded the guys from the #12dramsofxmas blind tastings to go along with #12blends. The purpose of #12blends is simple, 12 whisky bloggers and twitterers would send the other 11 a sample of a blended whisky marked only with their random number. The point being on a set day between 1st and 12th April that the other 11 would try to guess what the whisky is scoring points for Producer, Expression, Age and ABV with the overall winner being awarded a bottle of Compass Box Asyla kindly donated by the brilliant blended whisky producers Compass Box.
I've let it a few days before starting these reviews just so that i can catch up and also as some i have reviewed before, even though i'm unlikely to remember them.
Next up is day 12 with Jon and Mike from(@Living Room Whisky) with Master of Malts 8 Year Old blend, one that i've had and reviewed before and still managed to not get right, doh!
My stupid guess for this was Berrys' Speyside Reserve NAS
Pop on over to Master of Malt and pick up a bottle, this really is cracking stuff.
|Bottle Name||Master of Malt 8 Year Old Blended Whisky|
|Bottler||Master of Malt|
|Distiller||Master of Malt|
|Nose||the initial hits on the nose are quite sweet with hints of banana and ripe fruits, there's a maltyness behind it also that becomes quite tame going into homemade vanilla ice cream before adding a touch of crushed black pepper|
|Taste||sweet butterscotch and vanilla ice cream, mouth watering dram with edges of spiced apples and toffee bon bons|
|Finish||Oh Wow what a finish, this is not 40% thats for sure, lovely dram.|
