Today I was at the Glasgow Whisky Festival, my very own local Whisky Festival which is held at the perfectly suited The Arches Theatre right in the city centre of Glasgow.
The Arches is a bar, arts venue, theatre, live music venue and nightclub which previously back in 1991 was transformed from being a derelict area under Glasgow Central Station to what I think is a fantastic setting for the Glasgow Whisky Festival. This is a hugely popular event that was created with the aim of putting Glasgow back on the whisky map and with the emphasis on Glasgow's closest distilleries and the independent bottlers that belong to Glasgow. Of course the event celebrates whisky from all around the world as well and is a credit to the organisers, Mark Connolly, Bill Mackintosh and Julie Hamilton and to all who assist in what is a very enjoyable event.
Among the exhibitors today are my personal favourites Douglas Laing and Springbank and Bruichladdich with the SMWS having the area titled the Playroom all to themselves.

My Top drams from today (in no particular order) were:-
Wemyss Malts Velvet Fig
NZ whisky Company Dunedin Doublewood 15 Year Old
Springbank Green 12 Year Old Organic
Springank 17 Year Old Sherry Cask (Scheduled for release in January 2015)
SMWS 26.105 Bumblebees by the sea
Invergordon 40 Year Old (Douglas Laing)
I simply couldn't get that list down to 5 at all.
It has been a great event, with the Douglas Laing stand looking the most popular to me, although all the stands were well attended. I'd also personally like to thank Douglas Laing for letting me help out for 5 minutes, that was a great experience and one i would like to repeat.
