The Kilchoman Land Rover UK Tour Review

Kilchoman Land Rover UK tour I had the pleasure of attending the Kilchoman Land Rover UK Tour at Royal Mile Whiskies in Edinburgh last night with a few friends and trying some fabulous Kilchoman whiskies.

I have a few Kilchoman drams in my sample queue which i will get to soon I promise, in the meantime you will find my notes below of the drams we tried last night.

The Port Cask and Loch Gorm 2014 fight it out for my attention mostly, and Loch Gorm being part of the core range i will definitely be adding a bottle to my regular drinking shelf.

Still a few dates of the tour to go, so book yourself on and try these fabulous drams, and in the meantime thanks again to Kilchoman for the fabulous drams and of course to Royal Mile Whiskies for putting on a great display of how tastings in a shop environment can be done very well indeed.

Kilchoman Loch Gorm 2014 Review

View Standard Review Page

Kilchoman Loch Gorm The 2014 edition of Loch Gorm from Kilchoman tasted as part of the Kilchoman Land Rover UK Tour at Royal Mile Whiskies in Edinburgh.

This has been fully matured in ex-Sherry casks and its wonderful, a real winter warmer of a dram with sweet stewed fruits and smatterings of earthy sweet smoke

If you fancy some of this pop over to Royal Mile Whiskies online store for a bottle.

Tasting Notes & Details

Nose

Stewed apples and wild raspberries come through first followed by some heather smoke notes and that hint of chalkiness. Some sweet dried fruits come in followed by some overlooked fudge notes come through on the end with a hint of spice

Palate

Chalkiness and raspberry coulis are joined by fudge and heather smoke. This really is fabulous for a cold night in Edinburgh

Finish

Sweet stewed fruits and cinnamon

Kilchoman Machir Bay 2014 Review

View Standard Review Page

Kilchoman Machir Bay The 2014 edition of Machir Bay from Kilchoman tasted as part of the Kilchoman Land Rover UK Tour at Royal Mile Whiskies in Edinburgh.

This has a lot more smoke than the 100% Islay, it's more coal fired chimney smoke, and a lot more meaty and chewy than the 100% Islay too, very nice stuff indeed.

If you fancy some of this pop over to Royal Mile Whiskies online store for a bottle.

Tasting Notes & Details

Nose

Moss and heather smoke with that smoke that you smell as you pass coal fired chimneys in a small village huge chalkiness and hints of fruits coming through that remind me oil boiled sweets for travelling.

Palate

Very sweet initially with chalkiness and coal fired chimneys coming through with boiled sweets and chunks of peppered steak and game like notes that remind me of venison stew

Finish

Sweet and chewy
