Old St. Andrews Tweet Tasting Review

Old St Andrews Tasted as part of the #OSAWhisky Tweet Tasting organised by Steve Rush (@thewhiskywire) from The Whisky Wire.

There were four drams in the range from the 3 year old Clubhouse to the 15 year old Nightcap all of which have a real familiar note that runs right through them, all of these cracking blends deserve the time to be taken to try them and appreciate them, they are well made blends and work well as easy drinking session drams.

my personal favourite of the bunch was the Fireside, that hint of lovely smoke just edged it for me.

You can pick these up from many places including The Green Welly Stop.

Old St Andrews, ClubHouse This Old St Andrews Clubhouse is a 3 year old entry level dram, normally sold in both miniature and full size in golf ball shaped bottles.

For such a young whisky the initial preconceptions are that it would not be great, but in fact it's actually a very drinkable session dram.

Old St. Andrews Nightcap Review

Old St Andrews,Nightcap This Old St Andrews Nightcap is a 12 year old blended dram, normally sold in both miniature and full size in golf ball shaped bottles.

The oldest of the range we tasted this was lovely with really big Malty notes and bit fresh tropical fruits, a little too much of the dark fruit sherry notes for my current liking but what a lovely dram that would genuinely make a lovely nightcap.

Tasted as part of the #OSAWhisky Tweet Tasting organised by Steve Rush (@thewhiskywire) from The Whisky Wire.

Tasting Notes & Details

Nose

Sweet melon and gentle dunnage warehouse malty notes combine with some edges of dried dark fruit

Palate

Malty with dark fruits of raisins and hints of fresher fruit salad with a gentle tweak of smoke
