I generally always like whisky that's been matured in sweet wine casks so a Benriach, which is generally always great, finished in Moscatel, is an attractive proposition.
A 30 year old Peated Benriach, now that sounds like a dram i'm going to absolutely love.
Just very recently announced this Benriach Cask Strength Batch 1 bottling has me quite excited as Benriach really are doing some cracking drams and their sister Glendronach Cask Strength batches are all really tasty.
The second batch of Benriach Cask Strength combines whisky matured in american oak, ex oloroso sherry and virgin oak casks and is bottled at a pretty massive ABV.
i picked up this bottle of BenRiach Curiositas Peated a while back and keep going back to it for a lovely sweet peaty blast.
There have been a number of peated benriachs over the years but this is the first batch of their Cask Strength non age statement version and i was really excited to try it.
Many of my whisky friends know that at the moment I have a bit of a thing for Port matured or finished whiskies so when my good friend Yoav (@yoavgel) from Whisky Gospel was over in the UK
I’ve seen a number of distilleries trying different things recently with Triple Distillation being one of them.
