Day 13 on the whisky advent calendar was this Glendronach 12 Year Old.
I really like sweet whiskies, so a Glendronach finished in a Marsala cask sounds right up my street
A replacement to a dram that was well received in the past, this 14 year old Glendronach has been finished in small batches in Virgin Oak casks.
Just before Christmas i tasted this Glendronach 15 Year Old as part of the Festive Drams tweet tasting from Steve Rush (@thewhiskywire) from The Whisky Wire and Arkwrights.
Anyone who knows me knows that I love Port finished and matured whiskies so this Glendronach 18 Year Old Tawny Port Finish was always going to be one that i would be drawn to.
This 1985 vintage matured in PX is a bit of an odd-ball as i was expecting it to be far sweeter than it was, with notes of spices, and lindt chocolate with chilli being at the front and some gentle sweetness hiding in the background.
Recently released the Batch 18 single casks series from the hugely popular Glendronach distillery range has landed, and run straight out the door, at most retailers, this 1989 cask 5476 is from that range of drams.
Another lovely single cask dram from Glendronach, this is from the Batch 9 single cask series, and is the Glendronach 1991 Cask #5405 distilled on 22/11/1991 and matured in a PX sherry cask.
Anyone who knows Tom well, knows that he isn't great with heavily sherried drams, so he asked me, Ben K, one of his work colleagues to help with some notes on some drams including this one.
It's Ben K here again helping Tom out once again with the Heavily sherried drams that he doesn't get on so well with.
I've left this for a while after my issues with seriously sherried drams was making it difficult for me
This 1996 single cask which was matured in a PX Sherry Puncheon hits all the right notes for me, frirst up no rubber, but it does pruens, sweetness and edges of that bitter dark chocolate that i love.
I've been lucky enough to try a lot of good whiskies, some great whiskies and a handful of amazing whiskies over the years and even i was excited by the range of single casks in Glendronachs batch 14 releases.
This 11 year old 2003 vintage Glendronach was bottled exclusively to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of The Green Welly Stop in Tyndrum.
This is my first time sampling the Grandeur, which i've heard a lot of people rave about over the years.
I really like seeing nice new young expressions where the producers aren't afraid to admit the age of the whisky, there's no need not to in my opinion.
I only ever managed to get a tiny wee dram of the Glendronach Cask Strength Batch 1 so i was really excited when my Glendronach Cask Strength Batch 2 sample arrived with the postman. (thanks to Glendr
The lovely sherried goodness from Glendronach is always a dram i enjoy and this 3rd batch from their cracking Cask Strength series is no different.
The last batches of this Glendronach Cask Strength have been fabulous and i expected no less for this one.
I've been lucky enough to try the batch 2, batch 3 and batch 4 of the Glendronach Cask strength series previously and this batch 5 I was definitely looking forward to.
