Caol Ila 12 Year Old
This is one of those drams that as a serious whisky drinker you really should be trying at some point, unless you don't like peat - in that case don't bother, as this Caol Ila 12 Year Old is not only one of the very many step up drams to other peat monsters but it's also got a huge amount of character to it.
For me this is pretty much a smoked bacon roll with brown sauce in a glass, and it showcases some of e really good things about peaty whiskies, the lovely meaty notes and the underlying sweetness.
Of course there are better peat monsters out there, but this is one that you should try at least once.

this dram starts off with a huge note of BBQ spare ribs to start with but then it becomes freshly made bacon rolls with proper HP brown sauce, there's a hint of chalkiness in here too.
