SMWS 66.45 An Inspired Menu
The last of a wee series of drams that i tasted at the The Scotch Malt Whisky Society venue on Queen St in Edinburgh when i recently went to meet London Venue Manager Joe McGirr (@smwslondon) for a couple of drams and catch up.
I always find these non-Islay peaty drams very sweet underlying, as is typical with non-peated speyside and highland drams, and this is no different, a big kick of smoke and a lovely sweetness too.
I can't say it enough, if you're not a member of the The Scotch Malt Whisky Society then why not? you really should just go join now.
there's an initial meaty but sweet smoke eminating from the glass which goes more fire like as you stick your nose further into the glass, a touch of sea-salt and fresh sea air add to this before a sweet fresh citrus note comes along.
Very smooth very sweet and lovely fresh sea air with that saltiness comes in again along with som cuban cigar smoke.
