Royal Lochnagar Triple Matured Edition

Royal Lochnagar Triple Matured EditionThis Royal Lochnagar Triple Matured Edition is from the new series of drams exclusively for Friends of the Classic Malts, the first two releases being this Royal Lochnagar and the Talisker i reviewed yesterday.

All of the drams in this series feature this triple maturation which starts, conventionally, in refill casks. Next the liquids were transferred to charred American oak hogsheads, imparting spicy notes and a touch of sweet oak. To complete the conversation between spirit and oak, the whiskies enjoyed a third maturation in European Oak refill casks which softened, mellowed and integrated the aromas and flavours. Finally the whiskies were bottled at a generous 48% ABV which is unusual for non cask strength Talisker which normally is bottled at 45.8% or 80 proof.

Available at the distilleries or at selected online retailers, exclusively for Friends of the Classic Malts, these bottles are priced at £80.

This dram really impressed me and as the first dram i've tried from Royal Lochnagar it certainly means it wont be the last i try from them.

Many thanks to Cognis PR for the official Sample
