SMWS 31.26 - BBQ Smoke on the Rolling Sea
Part of a short series of The Scotch Malt Whisky Society bottlings this dram, the 31.26 "BBQ Smoke on the Rolling Sea" was part of the April out-turn and one my gorgeous wife bought me for my birthday.
Not difficult to tell this is from my favourite distillery ever, I had this dram at Queen St with my good friend Danny (@dramstats) before getting a full bottle of this glorious dram for my birthday (i'm a bit older than it though).
Very much showing the character of single cask malts this really is different to anything in the standard bottling range from this distillery and I really do think it would convert a few non-believers to this superstitious distillery.
It's drams like these that make me glad i'm a member of The Scotch Malt Whisky Society
a touch of treacle and sweet heather honey mix with some sandalwood and gentle freshly made toffee apples light wafts of cigar smoke a gentle whiff of lightly burnt wholemeal toast
some dark skinned fruits (plum, peach and mango) and a touch of bitter lemon with a dash of salty sea spray
starts off bitter initially then becomes a huge burst of umbongo tropical fruit juice
