Wemyss Malts Pears and Almonds
Yet another in a series of Wemyss Malts reviews, this one being Pears and Almonds, a cracking 1982 vintage dram from the Inchgower distillery.
This dram was provided to Livingston Whisky Club by the very kind staff of Wemyss Malts for a tasting and it was very much appreciated and well thought of by all who attended that tasting. The names of the bottles really do represent what is inside the bottle really well and Wemyss Malts need to be congratulated for getting that right.
I could easily drink this dram all night long, the only problem being i'd be hungry for some pear tarte tartin to go with it.
many thanks once again to Wemyss Malts for their support of Livingston Whisky Club .
the initial notes for me were of freshly crushed almonds and marzipan and very much reminded me of Mr Kiplings cherry bakewells, underlying that is a fruity freshness that reminds me of pear and elderflower cider.
more of the crushed almonds and marzipan, with pear juice and pastry
pears and marzipan, lovely stuff.
