Tomintoul With A Peaty Tang
I've had a number of Tomintoul whiskies now and been a big fan of them all so far, i'm especially keen on the 12 Year old Oloroso Cask and 12 year old Portwood whiskies so i was really keen to try this Tomintoul With A Peaty Tang.
There's not a huge amount on smoke in here, it's not massive peatyness like you would get with an Islay but the peat works well with the sweetness you expect from a great speysider and i think compliments it really well.
A very reasonably priced bottle which you can pick up from retailers such as Master Of Malt.
there's a nice amount of bbq smoke, like the smell you get when there's no meat on the BBQ and it's just the charcoal smoldering, then theres a light frutiness behind it with fresh lemon and lime.
more cereally and malty than peaty on the tongue, fresh lemon and strawberries also.
the finish grows with more peatyness coming through
