Tweeddale batch 3
I've came to the end of Blend month here on the blog, don't worry i will keep posting reviews and news of blends but i will be back a proper mix of blends, malts, grains and more from tomorrow, so i thought the last day should be something a bit special...
I first tried Tweeddale 12 Year Old (Batch 2) blind as part of the #12blends and loved it, it had a lot in common with other high quality blends that i love from Compass Box so i was hooked on it straight away.
Dropping in to Edinburgh Whisky Festival and after scouting out the SMWS Members area we had a wander about and headed over to chat with Alasdair Day at the Tweeddale stand. Danny and I had both been in #12blends and loved batch 2 so we were pretty desperate to try Batch 3 and were certainly not let down.
Natural Colour, Non Chill Filtered and featuring whisky aged well above the 12 year age statement (the grain is 18 year old) this blend is a great dram and in a one on one fight with most single malts would come out the ring with the championship belt.
If you havent already pop over to the Tweeddale shop and buy a bottle now.
initially theres a sweet honey note that caught my attention, then it moves on through that dewy grassy note i love from grain whisky before settling down with sweet malt biscuit and a slight hint of smoke.
really sweet to taste with caramel topped digestive biscuits, yum
sweet and malty biscuits
