Antiquary Superior Deluxe 21 Year Old
Furthering my month of Blended whisky i had persuaded the guys from the #12dramsofxmas blind tastings to go along with #12blends. The purpose of #12blends is simple, 12 whisky bloggers and twitterers would send the other 11 a sample of a blended whisky marked only with their random number. The point being on a set day between 1st and 12th April that the other 11 would try to guess what the whisky is scoring points for Producer, Expression, Age and ABV with the overall winner being awarded a bottle of Compass Box Asyla kindly donated by the brilliant blended whisky producers Compass Box.
I've let it a few days before starting these reviews just so that i can catch up and also as some i have reviewed before, even though i'm unlikely to remember them.
Next up and day 9 was Steve (@steveprentice) with the fantastic Antiquary 21 year old. This is a lovely old gent of a dram and is really my type of blend, produced by Tomatin who bought the brand they have really keep up the quality on this blend and i really need to sort a bottle of it for myself.
My stupid guess for this was a Compass Box Spice Tree, so at least i guessed it was a quality dram, ach well.
If you want to try it the best place is actually straight from Tomatin themselves on their online shop
Lovely sweet crunchy apple notes in here, with a lot of high quality malt, sweet and malty mix together really well, love the nose on this and very familiar too.
tangy and fruity like tangy oragnes and a touch of grapefruit with sweet malt loaf
lovely soft malt and tangy fruit
