Blended Grain No 1 50 Years Old Batch No 2 (That Boutique-y Whisky Company)

Blended Grain No 1 50 Years Old Batch No 2 (That Boutique-y Whisky Company) So lets just take a minute to look at the age statement on this dram, 50, yes 50, year old blended grain from the wizards of whisky at That Boutique-y Whisky Company, and batch 2 of it, at that.

Filled with huge acetone notes on the nose and palate, something you would expect from a grain, along with some beautiful sweet fruit on the nose and vanilla on the palate, this is old but not over aged, gentle but complex and powerful, hugely interesting and easy drinking all at the same time.

Not muc of this left around but you can grab a sample still from Master of Malt.

Thanks to Dave at That Boutiquey Whisky Company for the sample, which was part of a twitter tasting that went awry so just catching up now.

That wonderful creamy acetone note that comes from good grain whisky comes first, then a gentle balsa wood note is joined by some window putty (remember that?), pineapple peel and sharp tropical fruits, a tickle of liquorice laces

More creaminess again, acetone and woody vanilla sweetness, tingly vanilla pod infused sugar with a coating of cinnamon spices, that balsa note is back again, and vanilla cream is in there also.

Sweet creamy vanilla and cinnamon spiced sugar, soft gentle but long lasting
