SMWS 65.5 Old School Speyside
This dram is from a distillery with a chequered past that closed in 1998, has since been knocked down and replaced with part of another distillery with a different name, so although the site and location might be used the name of this distillery will not.
Only the 5th cask ever bottled by the Scotch Malt Whisky Society from this distillery, this bottle is already fetching much more at auction sites around the globe and is a distillery i'm seriously fond of.
Full of apple notes straight away and lots of other tropical fruits and fruit trifle, with the biscuity bits, theres a touch of Thai 7 spice on the palate which rounds it off also, really tasty stuff and a real shame that this distillery closed.
Sold out a long time ago, keep an eye on The Scotch Malt Whisky Society for more from distillery 76
Straight away some serious apple notes crunchy red lady and golden delicious, gentle chantilly cream, freshly scraped waxy vanilla pod, more oaky woody notes as it sits in the glass, the sponge fingers from a trifle, with the trifle topping, including the hundreds and thousands, left in the glass it becomes sticky toffee pudding
Really thick and viscous, a tang of Thai 7 spice across the tongue with citrus fruit notes, tangy fruit peels and a hint of toffee, a touch of white pepper, some extra malty malteasers
White pepper and citrus fruit juices
